AppLovin Amplify San Francisco 2019

This week, we hosted AppLovin Amplify on our home turf in San Francisco. The two-day event gathered more than 100 attendees eager to learn how to level up their games with the newest tools for monetization and brand safety.

The event kicked off Wednesday evening at Everdene, the Virgin Hotel’s rooftop bar with picturesque city views. Attendees enjoyed craft cocktails, delicious culinary creations, and the opportunity to network and mingle with fellow industry leaders.

Thursday started with morning coffee and pastries, then Idil Canal, GM of MAX welcomed attendees. Our first panel featured Dave Martorana, Co-Founder at Flyclops and Marc Milowski, Strategic Partner Manager at Facebook Audience Network alongside our moderator Dan Sack, VP of Platform at AppLovin. Dave spoke to the operational impact Flyclops saw after shifting to MAX. Marc addressed the successes Facebook Audience Network has seen with various ad types on MAX. Overall, both speakers agreed that that time to capitalize on trends like in-app bidding is to be in front of them.

Next up on the agenda was a panel discussion on the networks’ perspective on how in-app bidding has increased transparency. AppLovin’s Sr. Director of Programmatic Demand Abby Levine was joined by Eve Friedman, VP of Americas Supply at Smaato and David Pokress, EVP Global Publishing at AdColony.  While there was plenty of conversation around where we are now, David noted that until all the major networks are participating we won’t have a truly fair auction.

After lunch on the terrace, AppLovin’s Idil Canal hosted a fireside chat with Super Lucky’s CEO and Founder Nicholas Talarico to learn how Super Lucky was able to increase their revenue through in-app bidding with no negative impact on their retention. Nicholas shared that by switching to honest and transparent mediation, he was not only able to optimize his revenue, he was able to get time back in his day to perform other functions as CEO.

Our final session focused on something that’s top of mind for game developers today: Preserving the integrity of their brand. Michael Fortune, Business Development Manager at AppLovin hosted a panel with Michael Chronister, Operational Manager at Brainium, Matt Frankenstein, Sr. Manager, Advertising Partnership and Operations at Zynga, and Ronnie Sternberg, Co-General Manager at AppLovin Israel where they discussed how to monitor SDKs in your games to maintain user trust and keep your brand safe.

The day concluded with dinner, games, and drinks at Magnolia Brewing where attendees were able to reflect on the content from the day, and networked over a drink (or two!).
